R.E. Dunin was Deputy Director of the Alexandrinsky Theatre (formerly the Pushkin Academic Theatre), Deputy Director for Construction of the State Hermitage, and Head of the Department of the State Inspectorate for the Protection of Monuments in St. Petersburg. In 1991 he returned to the post of Deputy Director for Construction of the State Hermitage. R.E. Dunin supervised the reconstruction of the Hermitage Theatre and numerous historical sites in St. Petersburg.
